OVERVIEW OF MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES FOR THE PERIOD FROM 30 MARCH THROUGH TO 3 APRIL 2026

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Marko Savičić*, born in 1998 in the town of Milići, with previous convictions, citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia, and Gojko Cvjetinović*, born in 1966 in the municipality of Srebrenica, with previous convictions, citizen of BiH. They are charged with having accepted four Mongolian citizens on 28 July 2024, at the location of Rajska plaža, Bratunac municipality, pursuant to a previous agreement with persons known to them from the Republic of Serbia. These persons were previously taken across the Drina River from the territory of the Republic of Serbia to the territory of BiH by boat. The accused persons were prevented from further smuggling by police officers from the Bratunac Police Station, and the first accused tried to flee the scene, but was prevented. The individuals are charged with having smuggled four persons, one of whom was a minor, who had previously entered BiH illegally, with the intention of obtaining unlawful property gain, thereby committing the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189, paragraphs 2 and 4, in conjunction with paragraph 2 of the same article of the CC BiH, and all in conjunction with Articles 26 and 29 of the same Code
IDENTIFICATION OF A MISSING PERSON PERFORMED IN MOSTAR
Pursuant to the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the forensic medical examination and identification of the remains of the missing person P.E. born in 1970, who disappeared in 1993 and whose remains were exhumed in the area of Mostar in 2025, was performed. The remains were identified through DNA analysis. The identification process was led and coordinated by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes acting on the orders of the assigned prosecutor, and attended by a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (IMP) of BiH, police officers of the HNC MoI Mostar, as well as family members of the missing person. The remains will be handed over to the family pursuant to further procedure of the IMP BiH.
INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF SMUGGLING OF PERSONS
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against Emir Kovačević*, born in 1985 in Foča, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is accused of driving a van and trying to illegally smuggle 30 migrants from Egypt, Syria, Morocco and Palestine, who did not meet the conditions for legally crossing the state border of BiH and Croatia, outside the border crossing, in the area of the municipalities of Bihać and Donji Vaganac in the Republic of Croatia. He was prevented by police officers of border police of BiH and Republic of Croatia MoI - Border Crossing Korenica. The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of persons under Article 189, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH in conjunction with paragraphs 26 and 29 of the same Code.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
