Overview of major activities for the week between 5 January and 9 January 2026.

CUSTODY MOTION FOR SUSPECTS FOR COUNTERFEITING MONEY

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a motion to order into custody the suspects Srećko Dimitrijević*, born in 1963 in Peć, and Danijela Andžić*, born in 1980 in Užice, citizens of the Republic of Serbia. The charges against the suspects are that on 31 December last year they entered Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Republic of Serbia and put a large amount of counterfeit US dollar bills in denominations of $100 dollars into circulation as real ones. The previously obtained counterfeit money, in the amount of $1,500, was handed over to the exchange office in Bratunac by the suspect Andžić in order to exchange it for BAM, after which they headed in the direction of Istočno Sarajevo /East Sarajevo/, where they were stopped and deprived of liberty by members of the Republika Srpska MoI, when 22 banknotes in the denomination of $100 dollars were found and seized from the suspect Dimitrijević. The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of BiH, that is, because of the risk of flight of the suspects who are foreign citizens, and because of the grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offence of counterfeiting money set out in Article 205 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH.

APPEAL FILED AGAINST FIRST INSTANCE JUDGMENT IN CASE AGAINST RAMIZ DURAKOVIĆ*

After receiving a written dispatch of the first-instance judgment, which sentenced the accused Ramiz Duraković to a prison sentence of 3 years and 6 months for the war crime against the civilian population in the area of Čajniče, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an appeal against the first-instance judgment within the legal deadline. The appeal was filed because the decision on the criminal sanction set out Article 300 (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH and a greater sentence is requested for the accused. The complaint was submitted to the Court of BiH on 6 January 2026.
