IRMCT Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz and his associates are also participating in the conference.

The topics of the conference refer to the regional cooperation of prosecutors in the work on war crimes cases, the possibility of exchanging evidence, having access to witnesses and evidence, as well as to the modalities of joint fight against impunity of war crimes caused by the inaccessibility of suspects or accused persons located in the countries of the region.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina considers regional cooperation an important instrument in the field of work on war crimes cases considering that in the middle of this year, in the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the cases that are in the criminal complaint or investigation phase, there were 115 KTRZ cases with 344 inaccessible persons, 40 of whom are the persons that fall under the standard designation “A”, and most of these people are located in the countries of the region.

The conference has also discussed the possibility of transferring cases in accordance with memorandums and agreements on cooperation, as well as the prosecution of crimes of sexual violence in the war, all with the aim of ensuring that committed war crimes will not go unpunished.
