OVERVIEW OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK BETWEEN 9 SEPTEMBER AND 13 SEPTEMBER 2024.

Below is an overview of the most important activities for the week between 9 September and 13 September 2024.       

 

WORKING STUDY VISIT

Prosecutors and professional staff of the Trafficking and Smuggling in Persons Section and the for Investigations and Witness Support Department of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the invitation of the Austrian Prosecutor’s Office and the police, as part of the EU4FAST project activities, paid a working visit to their colleagues in the city of Eisenstadt.

The aim of the visit was to develop and improve the existing modalities of cooperation within the establishment of joint investigation teams, between BiH and Austria, and to develop new modalities in an effort to prevent illegal migration and prosecute criminal groups for smuggling migrants, which operate in the area of the Western Balkans and Austria.





MOTION TO EXTEND CUSTODY MEASURE AGAINST SUSPECTS IZET BEGANOVIĆ* AND OTHERS


The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a motion that the custody measure against the suspects Izet Beganović (1953), Adnan Kelecija (1983) from Banja Luka and Sadik Kevrić (1960) from the Brčko District of BiH, citizens of BiH, be extended by another two months. They are charged with the criminal offence of Organised crime under Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs under Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The extension of custody has been proposed for the custody reasons provided for in Article 132, (1), (a) and (b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.



CUSTODY MOTION AGAINST SUSPECT FOR ILLICIT INTERNATIONAL TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS*

A motion has been submitted to the Court of BiH to order the suspect Antonio Antić (1987), born in Zagreb, citizen of the Republic of Croatia, into custody for the reasons set out in Article 132 (a) of the Criminal Code of BiH. He is suspected of the criminal offence of Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs under Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
