CUSTODY MOTION FOR TURKISH CITIZENS SUSPECTED OF HUMAN SMUGGLING

Acting within 24/7 duty, the on-duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order the following suspects into custody: 1.     Hakan Kasap, born in 2004 in Yenicaga, Türkyie, citizen of the Republic of Türkyie, 2.     Mehmet Tekin, born in 1994 in Dodubayazit, Türkyie, citizen of the Republic Türkyie.  
  • CUSTODY MOTION FOR TURKISH CITIZENS SUSPECTED OF HUMAN SMUGGLING

The aforementioned suspects were discovered and detained by the BiH Border Police in Border Sector A - Vaganj 3, Livno municipality, during the smuggling of 17 persons, including a large number of children and minors, citizens of Türkyie, who did not meet the conditions for legal entry into the Republic of Croatia and EU countries.

 

The suspects are under investigation and it is suspected that in order to obtain illegal property benefits in the amount of several thousand euros, they, together with one other person, organised and smuggled Turkish citizens not meeting the conditions for legal border crossing and entry into the Republic of Croatia and into the EU, which is all in contravention of Article 6 of the Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, which supplements the UN Convention against Transnational and Organised Crime.

 

The suspects are charged with having committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of persons in violation of Article 189 (1) and (4) of the Criminal Code of BiH.

 

The custody motion was sent to the Court of BiH, where at the hearing the prosecutor explained in detail the reasons for custody, after which the Court of BiH issued a decision ordering the aforementioned suspects into custody.
