CUSTODY MOTION FOR VANJA VUKOVIĆ (1985) SUSPECTED OF OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE

08.02.2024. 13:33
The prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH who is acting in the Dalibor Railić et al. case sent a motion to the Court of BiH to order the suspect Vanja Vuković (1985) from Prijedor into custody.
  • CUSTODY MOTION FOR VANJA VUKOVIĆ (1985) SUSPECTED OF OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE

The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, that is, because of the risk that the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offence or to complete the attempted one.

Suspect Vuković is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and police agencies and is suspected of obstructing the investigation, that is, of threatening and intimidating a witness in the organised crime case, requesting him to change his testimony. The witness in question testified in the case against the accused Dalibor Railić and others, and in particular about the circumstances of the grave murder of Radenko Bašić, Chief of the Prijedor Criminal Police.

After the evidence of the suspect’s illegal activities was collected, he was deprived of his liberty, and is suspected of the criminal offence of Obstruction of justice set out in Article 241 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The deprivation of liberty is the result of an operation carried out by the police officers of the Directorate for Organised and Serious Crime of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior under the supervision of the prosecutor.

The custody motion was sent to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
