MOTION FOR CUSTODY FILED AGAINST 10 PERSONS SUSPECTED OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has submitted a Motion with the Preliminary Proceedings Judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina seeking that the measure od custody be ordered against 10 persons due to the existence of a grounded suspicion that they committed war crimes against Bosniak victims in the area of Zvornik, in 1992.
  • MOTION FOR CUSTODY FILED AGAINST 10 PERSONS SUSPECTED OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN ZVORNIK AREA

Custody for a term of one (1) month has been proposed against Goran Maksimović, Ljiljan Mitrović, Radivoje Đorđić, Slavko Perić, Mile Vujević, Vukašin Drašković, Gojko Stevanović, Cvjetko Popadić, Rajo Lazarević i Mićo Manojlović. 

The measure of custody has been proposed for reasons stipulated in Article 132, items (a), (b) and (d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or due to the risk of flight of the aforementioned suspects and the risk that these suspects, if at large, might hinder the investigation, conceal evidence or influence witnesses, accessories or accomplices, as well because of the manner of the perpetration of the criminal offense which caused great anxiety of the public and citizens.

The aforementioned suspects are under investigation for the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172, Paragraph 1, Item (h) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as read with items a), e), f) and k), in conjunction with Article 180, Paragraph 1 and Article 29 of the same Code.

Having questionred the suspects, the Prosecutor in charge of this case has forwarded a Motion with the authorized Court, seeking that custody in the duration of thirty (30) days be ordered for reasons as mentioned above.

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
