PERSONS SUSPECTED OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE TERRITORY OF JAJCE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY

Early this morning, in the area of Jajce, upon the order of a Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency deprived of liberty the Jozić brothers, namely Umrislav Jozić, born in 1963, Luka Jozić, born in 1966 and Mato Jozić, born in 1962, in Jajce, where they also reside.

They are subject to investigation for the grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians, as referred to in Article 173, Paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 180, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina as they are suspected, in their capacity of members of HOS in Jajce, of taking three persons of Serb ethnicity out of their houses in Jajce, on two occasions on 7 to 8 July 1992; then they took those civilians to the seat of the HOS police in Pećin, where they treated them inhumanely, tortured them physically and mentally in various ways, mistreated them, beat and tortured them and subsequently killed them. 

These suspects will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the statutory time limit, where the Prosecutor in charge of this case will conduct the questioning of the Jozić brothers in their capacities of suspects and subsequently decide whether to put forward a motion for custody or motion seeking prohibiting measures.
