Response to the SRNA Agency’s question regarding the unsolved murders in East Sarajevo

16.06.2014. 13:22
S postovanjem, Novinska agencija SRNA Dopisnistvo Istocno Sarajevo

INVESTIGATIONS OF UNSOLVED MURDERS YOU LIST ARE HANDLED BY EAST SARAJEVO DISTRICT PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Dear all,

For your information and better understanding of the matter by the citizens and the public we must state the following:

1.  Unsolved murders of two police officials and the Director of Jahorina Osiguranje /Insurance company Jahorina/ Mr. Jugović are matters pending with the District Prosecutor’s Office East Sarajevo for many years (more precisely for more than 10 years) and the Office in question is investigating these murders together with the RS Ministry of the Interior.

2.  Thanks to the expertise, professionalism and persistence of Prosecutors and Investigators the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has, in cooperation with police operatives, shed some light on several unsolved murders in the area of East Sarajevo (murder of Boris Govedarica, triple murder on Vraca in 2005 when Milorad Todorović and two other persons were killed, the murder of Vladimir Mačar in Pale, the murder of Zoran Golub  in Lukavica) and perpetrators of those murders are tried in the Case codenamed "Lutka" /doll/; The murder  of Ljubiša Savić-Mauser in Bijeljina was also tried and a final verdict was rendered by the Court of BiH sentencing Đorđe Ždrale  to 20 years in prison.

These murders were resolved within the course of a complex investigation of organized crime in the region as they were pending for more than 10 years in the entity judiciary.

The families of the victims Marković, Knežević and Jugović have also contacted the state prosecutor’s office, and placed their trust and hope in it to discover the killers of their dearest, thus expressing they trust the state judiciary.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its fight against organized crime and investigation of unsolved murders which the other institutions have failed to resolve, and will certainly if further investigations into organized crime lead to evidence on perpetrators of unsolved murders in Bosnia and Herzegovina prosecute the perpetrators in question.

However, we do not want to carry the burden of unsolved crimes that are being prosecuted before the entity courts, therefore you should contact the entity judiciary and the police and ask them why  there is no progress in resolving those murders even now after 10 or more years have passed.

Sincerely,

Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH
