AN ACTION WITH THE CODE NAME OF CASANOVA CARRIED OUT UPON THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH, AIMED AT DETECTING AND PROSECUTING SUSPECTS OF ORGANIZED CRIME IN RELATION TO ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS

Early this morning, acting pursuant to the Order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency –SIPA conducted searches and deprived persons of liberty in several cities in the territory of Herzegovina.
  • AN ACTION WITH THE CODE NAME OF CASANOVA CARRIED OUT UPON THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH, AIMED AT DETECTING AND PROSECUTING SUSPECTS OF ORGANIZED CRIME IN RELATION TO ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS

In the course of this action, searches were conducted at several locations in Mostar, Trebinje, Nevesinje and Jablanica, and nine (9) persons were deprived of liberty. Residential facilities and other premises, vehicles and movables used by the suspects were subject to this search.

The persons deprived of liberty are suspected of becoming members of a criminal group organized for the purpose of procuring, transporting and selling of the Heroin and Marijuana narcotic drugs in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

According to the evidence collected, this group was continuously conducting an illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs from Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, from April 2013 to March 2014, for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain.  

The persons deprived of liberty during this action are suspected of the commission of the criminal offense of Organized Crime, as referred to in Article 250 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction of the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, as referred to in Article 195 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor in charge of this case will question these suspects within the statutory time limit and subsequently decide whether to file a motion for custody or motion for prohibiting measures with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
