During the meeting they expressed support to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the process of strengthening the capacities of the Prosecutor’s Office for the purpose of a more effective fight against organized crime, corruption and terrorism and efficient prosecution of war crimes.

Chief Prosecutor thanked the representatives of the U.S. Embassy for the continued assistance in strengthening the capacities of judicial institutions and law enforcement agencies in BiH and expressed his belief that the successful cooperation will continue in the future.

The Chief Prosecutor pointed out that the issue of war crimes processing is something that Bosnia and Herzegovina and its judiciary has to solve itself, that the problem will not be solved by the ICTY or the international community. He also emphasized that he expects the support of the Council of Ministers in the process of strengthening the capacities for prosecution of war crimes related to the hiring of 12 new prosecutors as well as the support of the BiH institutions in the relocation of the Prosecutor’s Office to a separate building with adequate space to accommodate all employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which is one of the conclusions of the structural dialogue on judicial reform and an obligation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH celebrates 10 years of its existence, and it will continue with the activities in the fight against organized crime and corruption in order to protect and ensure security for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as to create an environment of the rule of law in our country, in line with the upcoming European Integration.
