EXHUMATION OF THE REMAINS OF VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR WAS CARRIED OUT IN ROGATICA MUNICIPALITY
22.06.2012. 15:12An exhumation was carried out at the location of Jabučko sedlo in Rogatica municipality resulting with the uncovery of two remains. More remains are expected to be unearthed at this location but the continuation of the exhumation process shall depend on the time required for the de-mining of the terrain.
The recovered remains shall be transferred to BIHAMK building in Goražde where samples shall be collected for the DNA analysis aiming to identify the victims. The DNA analysis of the remains shall be handled by the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who acted in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor while coordinating the work of police, forensic experts and other authorized persons engaged in the process of exhumations.
The exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the RS MoI, a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine, representatives of the RS Civil Protection, representatives of the BiH Mine Action Center (BHMAC) and an investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of exhuming and tracing the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
