Task Force for Fight Against Terrorism And Strengthening Capacities For Fight Against Terrorism
Pursuant to the Decision of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Group for Fight Against Terrorism and Strengthening Capacities for Fight Against Terrorism (Task Force) was established in 2004 which is operating under the leadership of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and supervision of the BiH Ministry of Security.
Establishing the Task Force for investigation of crimes of terrorism the fight against terrorism has been institutionalized in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During 2005 the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina ensured cooperation and coordinated the work of the bodies involved in fight against terrorism, collecting information on terrorism cases in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and conducting investigations.
The activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina included primarily uncovering a network providing financial and any other support to persons suspected of being connected with individuals, legal persons or associations whose activities imply crimes of terrorism.
Participating in the work of this Task Force the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been lobbying for such an approach to the problem of terrorism in the contemporary environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina whereby potential centers which could initiate activities that are the reason for establishment of the Task Force. Through the Task Force the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina worked on making contacts and cooperation with experts on terrorism from the Council of Europe and UN Security Council.
