CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH INTERNATIONAL EXPERT OF EU4JUSTICE FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

A meeting was held at the Prosecutor’s Office of
BiH where the Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, together with his Deputy and
Prosecutors from the Corruption Section, met with Mr. Mika Aalto, Prosecutor
from Finland and EU4JUSTICE expert, who is in charge of carrying out activities
related to strengthening the capacity of the Section for Corruption, and who
commenced his engagement at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
In order to strengthen the capacity to fight corruption, and as part of the candidate status and the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chief Prosecutor Kajganić, sought within the EU4JUSTICE project the engagement of an international colleague who was granted consent by the HJPC of BiH and the EU Delegation, and has hence commenced his engagement as an international expert with an office in the premises.
Certain activities of the project will include support in strengthening the Section for Corruption, with the application of international experiences and standards, in detecting, proving and prosecuting criminal offenses of corruption and organized crime.
The international expert, who has experience in strengthening the capacity to fight corruption in foreign countries, will work with Prosecutors from the Section for Corruption as well as the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption and provide expert advice in this area.
