The central topics of the meeting covered regional cooperation in war crimes cases, as well as the issue of the State War Crimes Strategy.

In the meeting, there was also discussion about the reviewing and assessment of the complexity of cases, as well as about transferring less complex cases to judicial authorities at the Entity and Brčko District levels and about issues relating to the modification of the State War Crimes Strategy, which is a very important document and a basis for speeding up the trying of cases.

One of the topics at the meeting related to the regional co-operation of prosecutors in the fight against war crimes with the aim of improving and strengthening regional co-operation.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ICTY/MICT OTP have good, ongoing and long-term co-operation with a common goal, i.e. to prosecute war crimes cases and make joint efforts to prevent that committed war crimes remain unsanctioned.

Acting Chief Prosecutor reiterated that the continuing MICT support was still necessary for already identified more complex cases.

Prosecutor Brammertz expressed his support to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in its work and efforts to prosecute war crimes cases.
