EXHUMATION CARRIED OUT IN BRATUNAC MUNICIPALITY

An exhumation was carried out at the location between the river Kravica and Balča potok as mortal remains were uncovered following the floods in May.
The recovered remains shall be transported to the Commemorative Centre Tuzla for post mortem and forensic processing i.e. DNA samples shall be collected in order to determine the identity of the victim.
The exhumation process was coordinated by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and carried out by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor specializing in forensic medicine, PS Bratunac CID inspector and forensic technician, and a police officer who secured the scene.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing in BiH, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the missing in all parts of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
