PROHIBITING MEASURES REQUESTED FOR THREE SUSPECTS

16.12.2013. 14:15
Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH to order prohibiting measures for persons suspected of committing the criminal offense of Organized Crime under Article 250, Paragraph 1 in conjunction with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Arms, Military Equipment and Products of Dual Use under Article 193 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • PROHIBITING MEASURES REQUESTED FOR THREE SUSPECTS

The Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH to order prohibiting measures for the following suspects:

-        Ž.K. from Busovača, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Croatia,

-        V.Ć. From Busovača, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Croatia and

-        J.V. from Kreševo, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Croatia.

The aforementioned suspects were deprived of liberty in the morning of December 12, 2013 during the course of an operation codenamed "Obrežje", which was carried out, pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, by the authorized officers of the Federation Police Department in the municipalities of Busovača and Kreševo, and handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH within the statutory deadline.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH suspects that the aforementioned persons have acted as an organized group dealing with illegal trade in arms, munitions and explosive devices at an international level for a longer time period. During the search of facilities used by the suspects a certain quantity of weapons, primers, explosives, mines, drugs and other items of importance to document the crimes were found.

Significant international cooperation was achieved during the course of this investigation with law enforcement agencies in Slovenia, because the smuggled weapons ended up outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After questioning the suspects, the Assigned Prosecutor filed a motion to the Court of BiH to order prohibiting measures i.e. house arrest and a ban on contact with suspects and witnesses in the case.

Motion for order of prohibiting measures was filed with the Court of BiH.
