COMPLETE MORTAL REMAINS OF MORE THAN SEVENTY PERSONS EXHUMED SO FAR AT THE TOMAŠICA SITE. A MICRO-LOCATION WITH A LARGER NUMBER OF BODIES DICOVERED AT THE SAME SITE

10.10.2013. 15:00
At the site of Tomašica in Prijedor Municipality, intensive activities continue.

It is assumed that this primary mass grave contains bodies of victims of Bosniak and Croat ethnicity from Prijedor and its surroundings, killed in the summer of 1992.

In this mass grave, at the depth of seven meters, complete and incomplete mortal remains of several tens of victims and some personal items of the victims were found.

The digging out of the bodies commenced and the bodies are in piles, at different depths within the pit. Until today, more than seventy (70) complete bodies and around fifty (50) body parts and incomplete bodies of victims were exhumed.

This morning, another micro-location was found in the close vicinity of this mass grave with an unidentified number of bodies. Further digging and probing of the ground will show how many victims are in this grave.

Remains of the found bodies will be transported to the Šejkovača Identification Center in Sanski Most, where they will remain until the completion of their forensic analysis and identification process.

The exhumation is attended by representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the RS Ministry of the Interior, an expert forensic pathologist and an Investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The Investigator of the of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is continuously present in the field coordinating the work of all the persons involved in the exhumation process.

A larger number of mortal remains is expected to be found in the period to come, since, according to the information collected, this site contains a large number of victims from Prijedor and its surroundings.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH and other institutions involved in the process of exhumation are undertaking intensive activities aimed at securing this site and organizing the process of digging out of the victims and their further forensic analysis and identification.

The exhumation process will continue.
