EXHUMATIONS OF BODIES OF THE VICTIMS FROM THE PAST WAR CARRIED OUT IN KLADANJ AND BRATUNAC MUNICIPALITIES

At the site of Jezernica- Bare in Kladanj Municipality and the sites of Lolići and Kameničko Brdo- Vaselići in Bratunac Municipality, exhumations were carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

In Kladanj Municipality, a fragment of a body of one person was found, whereas in Bratunac Municipality, mortal remains of a body of one person and several fragments of bones belonging to several persons were found.

In all the three cases, the found mortal remains of victims were transported to the Commemorative Center in Tuzla, where forensic, as well as criminal and technical analysis will be performed, the cause of death will be determined and bone samples will be taken for DNA analysis in order to establish the victims’ identity.

The exhumation process was coordinated in the field by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and the exhumation was carried out by officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the Kladanj Police Station and Bratunac Police Station.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with institutions involved in the process of tracing missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of conducting exhumations and tracing missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
