  • CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE U.S. HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS AND WAR CRIMES CENTER

The HRVWCC has been working closely with the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina on investigations of war crimes suspects for many years. During that time, cooperation has been achieved in numerous cases, with the support of U.S. institutions, especially in cases where suspects or accused have emigrated to the United States.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has also provided support in immigration fraud proceedings conducted in the United States against persons who provided false information about their participation in wartime conflicts during the immigration process. Since the establishment of the Special Department for War Crimes, several suspects have been extradited from the United States with the assistance of the HRVWCC, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, for prosecution and trial in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
