INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM

- Edin Podgora, born in 1973 in Zenica, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is currently remanded in custody.
This accused person is charged with broadcasting a video clip via social networks, on 18 April this year, with the aim of seriously intimidating the population and seriously destabilizing the fundamental constitutional and social structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In that video clip, which lasts several minutes, he threatened to attack upon the lives and physical integrity of persons, using cold weapons, and he sent messages with anti-Semitic content and made threats to attack upon the lives of persons he called "kafiris" (infidels), stating that he would carry out an attack and broadcast it live.
After the broadcast of the video content, which was viewed hundreds of times by users of social networks, the accused was located and deprived of his liberty in the area of Zenica, by police officers of SIPA BiH, whereas the facilities and premises used by him were searched.
The accused is charged with having perpetrated a terrorist act with the aim of seriously intimidating the population and seriously destabilizing the fundamental constitutional and social structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by threatening to attack upon persons’ life, which may cause death, and to attack upon the physical integrity of persons, whereby he committed the criminal offense of Terrorism, referred to in Article 201, paragraph 1, in conjunction with paragraph 5, item i), as read with items a) and b) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
