MORTAL REMAINS OF ONE PERSON FOUND IN VIŠEGRAD AREA
07.06.2024. 10:48An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present at the site of the Crnča City Cemetery in Višegrad municipality, where he coordinated the activities of authorized officers participating in the exhumation process, in accordance with an order issued by the prosecutor in charge of the case.
Complete mortal remains of one person were found at the said site. According to the available information, it is assumed that the remains belong to a Croatian victim who was killed in 1992.
The finding of the location was a joint effort of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA in collecting information in the process of searching for missing persons.
The exhumation process was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and necessary workers, and the location was secured by the members of the Višegrad Police Station of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
