INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST FOUR PERSONS FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING

A prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against:  
  • INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST FOUR PERSONS FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING

1.       Milorad Đerić, born in 1982 in Ljubovija, residing in Bratunac, previously convicted, citizen of BiH;

2.       Radenko Orašanin, born in 1977 in Srebrenica, where he resides, citizen of BiH;

3.       Jovan Ilić, born in 1999 in Zvornik, residing in Bratunac, citizen of BiH

4.       Predrag Polić, aka ‘Peđa’, born in 1989 in Travnik, residing in Bratunac, citizen of BiH.

 

It is alleged against the defendants that with the intention of obtaining illegal property benefits, upon an agreement with persons known to them from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, they smuggled across the state border on the Drina River, several dozens of large and small cattle, which they smuggled using a boat with a motor, outside border crossings points, without undergoing the necessary measures of customs, sanitary, veterinary and health control, which are provided for in the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, when importing animals and foodstuffs of animal origin into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

Police officers of the BiH Border Police discovered the perpetrators in the commission of the criminal offence.

 

The charges against defendants are that they, as co-perpetrators, without appropriate approval, evading customs control measures, transferred across the customs line the goods the import of which requires a special approval or permit from the competent authority, thereby committing the criminal offence of Smuggling set out in Article 214 (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH.

 

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
