CUSTODY MOTION FOR TWO PERSONS SUSPECTED OF COUNTERFEITING MONEY
15.04.2024. 12:55
The custody was proposed for the suspects Stefan Mariano Tovilović Kalamanda (1999) from Ljubljana and Art Okorn (2003) from Kranj, citizens of the Republic of Slovenia.
The suspects are under investigation and the charges against them are that in early April of this year, they put a large amount of counterfeit banknotes in denominations of EUR 200 into circulation as real ones on several occasions when paying for various products at several gas stations in the area of the municipalities of Doboj and Prijedor.
The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1), (a) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, that is, because of the risk of flight of the suspects who are foreign citizens, and who would become inaccessible to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Court of BiH after leaving BiH.
The suspects are charged with having committed the criminal offence of counterfeiting money set out in Article 205 (1), in conjunction with Articles 54 and 29 of the same Code.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
