CHIEF PROSECUTOR MILANKO KAJGANIĆ PARTICIPATES IN THE MEETING OF THE COORDINATING BODY OF CHIEF PROSECUTORS IN BIH

The coordinating body discussed the issue of the conflict of jurisdiction in two criminal cases. In the case related to the criminal offence of war crimes, there is the conflict of jurisdiction between the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton in Mostar and the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Trebinje, and in the case related to the criminal offence of tax evasion, there is the conflict of jurisdiction between the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Zenica-Doboj Canton in Zenica and the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka. The reporter in both cases was the Prosecutor’s Office of the Federation of BiH.
There was also discussion about the issue of using authorised officers of the BiH Military Police in the process of conducting investigative actions in the military-controlled area and against members of the BiH Armed Forces.
The meeting of the Coordinating Body was supported by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH. In accordance with the Agreement on the Establishment of the Coordinating Body of Chief Prosecutors, the meeting of this body was chaired by the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
