15.03.2024. 13:20
The meeting provided a platform for continuing discussions on common challenges, successes and future joint steps in the fight against serious and organised crime, as well as a way to improve bilateral and multilateral cooperation of prosecutor’s offices from the region. The focus was on cases of serious and organised crime that are of regional and global importance, and on the exchange of information, best practices and innovative approaches in order to improve the process of investigation and criminal prosecution.
The Special State Prosecutor’s Office organised the aforementioned meeting in partnership with the project Western Balkans Counter-Serious and Organised Crime Initiative (WBROLI), which is being implemented by Chemonics and funded by the UK Government.
The speakers used the opportunity to point out that the fight against serious and organised crime is of a transnational character and that close and unhindered cooperation of all institutions involved in the process is necessary for its effectiveness, both at the strategic and operational level.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
