INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST A FOREIGN CITIZEN FOR SMUGGLING TURKISH CITIZENS

A prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against:    
  • INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST A FOREIGN CITIZEN FOR SMUGGLING TURKISH CITIZENS

-         ABDULLATIF KAYA, aka ‘Sinan’, born in 1971 in Diyarbakir, citizen of the Republic of Türkyie, remanded in custody.

 

The charges against the defendant are that on 29 January of this year, with the intention of obtaining an illegal property benefit, upon a previous agreement with a person known to him, for the agreed amount of money, he admitted six citizens of the Republic of Türkyie in the area of Sarajevo, and used a rented rent-a-car vehicle to bring the aforementioned citizens of the Republic of Türkyie to the demarcation line and the state border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia in the place called Zvala in Posušje, so that they could cross the border, where they would then be escorted by a person known to them, but he was prevented in doing this by the police officers of the Border Police of BiH, Border Police Unit Gorica.

 

The defendant is charged with having acted contrary to Article 6 of the Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air and Article 7 of the Law on Border Control, and that with the intention of obtaining material benefits, he illegally attempted to transport several persons across the state border, thereby committing the criminal offence of Smuggling of persons set out in Article 189 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Article 26 of the same Code.

 

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
