  • INDICTMENT FILED FOR SMUGGLING ABOUT 16 THOUSAND PACKS OF CIGARETTES

-         Rade Gligorović, born in 1996 in Milići, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The charges against the defendant are that he arrived at the Karakaj border crossing point near Zvornik by a freight trailer from the direction of Serbia and, contrary to the Law on Customs Policy of BiH and the Law on Excise Duties of BiH, attempted to transport across the customs line to Bosnia and Herzegovina 15,889 packs of cigarettes of various brands, which were hidden in a specially constructed compartment in the cargo area of the trailer, which were not marked with control and tax stamps prescribed by the tax legislation of BiH and whose total estimated value is BAM 72,590,33. They were found and seized by members of the Zvornik Border Police.

The defendant is charged with having transported goods of higher value across the customs line by avoiding customs control measures, thus committing the criminal offence of Smuggling in violation of Article 214 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment proposed the confiscation of the items used to commit the criminal offence, that is, seized cigarettes, as well as the trailer used for smuggling.

The Prosecution is going to prove the allegations of the indictment by calling five witnesses and submitting the collected evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
