CUSTODY MOTION FOR TWO SUSPECTS IN THE SKY CASE ‘KUM’
23.02.2024. 09:39
1. Aleksandar Matović, aka ‘Aco’, born in 1977 in Foča, employed as an active police officer of the BiH Border Police, citizen of BiH,
2. Predrag Petkovića, aka ‘Peđa’, born in 1987 in Banja Luka, citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia.
The suspects were deprived of their liberty in an operation carried out in the area of Sarajevo, Foča and Gradiška by police officers of the Republika Ministry of the Interior and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior, on the orders of the prosecutor.
The custody motion was sent for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (a), (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, that is, because of the risk that by being at large the suspects could hinder the investigation, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offence or complete the one attempted, and for the suspect Petković also because of the risk that the suspect would flee.
The suspects are under investigation for criminal offences of organised crime related to the illegal international trafficking in large quantities of narcotic drugs and their distribution on the illegal drug market.
Furthermore, the suspect Matović is charged with the criminal offence of corruption, that is, with the misuse of resources in the BiH Border Police in order to assist criminals by issuing false certificates about crossing the state border and in other ways.
One of the suspects in this case is located in Denmark, and upon his return to BiH in the coming days, he will be collected at the Sarajevo Airport and handed over to the prosecutor in charge.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
