MOTION TO ORDER FOUR SUSPECTS INTO CUSTODY IN THE CASE CODENAMED “ŠLJUNKARA” AND “NEON 2”

15.01.2024. 15:33
The case prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, after interviewing the suspects, submitted a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order the four suspects into custody.
  • MOTION TO ORDER FOUR SUSPECTS INTO CUSTODY IN THE CASE CODENAMED “ŠLJUNKARA” AND “NEON 2”

The motion to order custody measure was submitted for the following suspects: Aleksandar Kojić (1993), Marko Maksić (1993), Dragan Ristić (1995) and Rastko Bošnjak (1998) from Bijeljina, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 30-day custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (a), (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, that is, because of the risk of flight, as well as the risk that the suspects could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices or commit a criminal offence again or complete the attempted one.

They are suspected of having committed the criminal offence of Organised crime set out in Article 250, in conjunction with the criminal offence of Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs set out in Article 195 and Money laundering set out in Article 209 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The operation was carried out in the area of Bijeljina under the supervision of the case prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the District Public Prosecutor’s Office Bijeljina, and the suspects are under investigation that they, as members of an organised criminal group, were involved in international smuggling of large quantities of narcotic drugs that were sold on the illegal drug market.

During the operation, a certain amount of different narcotic drugs, special equipment intended for the production of the narcotic drugs, a large amount of weapons, including four rifles with the corresponding ammunition, as well as mine-explosive devices were seized. During the implementation of this operation, significant cooperation and communication with partner institutions was achieved.

*Note on the principle of presumption of innocence

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
