Imprisonment for a term of nine (9) months each has been proposed against both accused persons, namely Muhammad Nasri, born in 2003 in Afghanistan, a citizen of Afghanistan, and Zain Afridi, born in 2002 in Jamraud, in Pakistan, a citizen of Pakistan, who are currently remanded in custody at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanctions in East Sarajevo.

The proposed sentences are consistent with the roles and responsibilities of these accused persons in the perpetration of the criminal offence of smuggling of migrants. These accused persons are charged with smuggling a group of eighteen (18) illegal migrants across the border on the Drina River, from Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

By signing Plea Agreements, the aforementioned accused persons waive their right to file an appeal against the Judgment that will be handed down against them by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of their Plea Agreements.

If the Court decides to accept the Plea Agreements, the case will be finalized in its entirety, and there will be no need to conduct court proceedings.

In view of the fact that the persons in question are foreign citizens, after they have served their sentence, further activities towards them will be taken over by the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
