MORTAL REMAINS OF AT LEAST SIX PERSONS FOUND AT EXHUMATION IN NOVO GORAŽDE

After their discovery, the skeletal remains were transferred to the ossuary of the "Sveti Marko" Public Utilities Enterprise in East Sarajevo, where forensic processing will be performed and the cause of death will be determined; moreover, bone samples will be taken in order to determine the identity of the victims by way of the DNA analysis.
The process of exhumation was managed by a legal officer of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the participation of the representatives of the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a permanent forensic expert-pathologist, whereas necessary workers and adequate machinery were also engaged. Police officers of the Novo Goražde Police Station were securing the location and providing forensic and technical support.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
