  • INDICTMENT FILED FOR WAR CRIMES IN TESLIĆ IN 1992

A prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against:

1.      Dragan Babić aka “Brćo” or “Vodnik” /Sergeant/, born in 1967 in Teslić, citizen of BiH,

2.      Milivoj Maletić aka “Šnjegotinac”, born in 1966 in Čelinac, citizen of BiH.

The charges against the defendants are that during the war and the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they as members of the VRS, that is, the defendant Babić as facility manager and member of the Military Police, and the defendant Maletić as a guard in the detention facility in Pribinić, in the course of 1992 acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilians and Prisoners of War during Conflicts.

The allegations against them are that they personally and together with other persons took part in the murders, tortures, abuses, beatings, inflictions of severe bodily and mental injuries, tortures in extremely humiliating ways and holding in inhumane conditions at least 110 persons of Bosniak and Croat ethnicity, mostly civilians, as well as prisoners of war, who were detained in the above-mentioned facility near Teslić.

The committed crimes resulted in the death of six people, three Bosniak victims and three Croat victims, and of these murders none was committed by a firearm but death occurred as a result of severe abuse and physical injuries. In a large number of cases the abuse of detainees resulted in serious physical injuries, multiple bone fractures and severe physical damages, the consequences of which are still visible in the victims.

The Prosecution is going to prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 57 witnesses, of which two witnesses with protective measures, as well as by submitting around 90 pieces of evidence.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
