INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN JOŠANICA NEAR FOČA, IN THE AREA OF VIŠEGRAD AND ČAJNIČE IN 1992 AND 1993

A team of prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes issued an indictment against 13 persons, former commanders and members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are charged with war crimes against ethnic Serb victims in the town of Jošanica near Foča in December 1992, in which 56 ethnic Serb civilians were killed, around 10 victims wounded, and houses, property, agricultural and ancillary facilities set on fire and destroyed.

The armed attack led by or participated in by the accused persons was carried out on an undefended village inhabited by civilians.  Among the victims were elderly people, women and children, the oldest victim was an 88-year-old man and the youngest victim was a 2-year-old girl. Some of the victims were tortured and killed in an extremely cruel manner.

The accused  Ahmet Sejdić, as a brigade commander and a member of the TD staff, is additionally charged with crimes committed in the villages of Klisure, Bursići and Hadrovići in the municipality of Višegrad, on 8 August 1992, which were outside the conflict and inhabited by the ethnic Serb civilian population. During the attack 8 ethnic Serb civilians were killed, including the oldest victim - a 90-year-old woman, one civilian was wounded and three civilians were taken into unlawful incarceration in the area of Višegrad. The houses and facilities were set on fire and destroyed.


The accused Ferid Buljubašić, as a commander and a superior, is additionally charged with war crimes against ethnic Serb civilians in the villages around Čajniče in February 1993. During the attack the ARBIH soldiers came across the territory of Montenegro, in the area of the village of Šapići, Trpinje, Trojan and Ponikve, eleven ethnic Serb civilians were shot from automatic weapons and killed.  Among them were elderly men and women and one child. Five civilians were wounded, and houses and property were set on fire and destroyed.

The Prosecution will prove the charges by calling more than 400 witnesses and submitting more than 1,200 pieces of evidence.


The accused persons are charged with the following criminal offenses:

  • War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173 of the CC BiH
  • Violating the Laws and Practices of Warfare  under Article 179 of the CC BiH
  • Organising a Group of People and Instigating the Perpetration of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes under Article 176 of the CC BiH.

The accused persons are:

  1. Ferid Buljubašić, born in 1953 in Foča
  2. Ahmet Sejdić, born in 1960 in Višegrad
  3. Rašid Sobo, born in 1965 in Foca
  4. Ševko Glušac, born in 1961 in Foča
  5. Zakir Jamak, born in 1969 in Višegrad
  6. Bahrudin Muhić, AKA "Bane", born in 1964 in Višegrad
  7. Adem Fehrić, born in 1962 in Višegrad
  8. Mustafa Poljo, AKA "Musa", born in 1965 in Višegrad
  9. Enver Kustura AKA "Pena", born in 1967 in Višegrad
  10. Mukamed Liska, born in 1973 in Visegrad
  11. Sakib Čakar, born in 1957 in Višegrad
  12. Izet Sejdić, born in 1955 in Višegrad
  13. Munir Nalo, born in 1970 in Višegrad
