07.08.2023. 07:43

  • PERSON ACCUSED OF SMUGGLING MIGRANTS SIGNS PLEA AGREEMENT ADMITTING HIS GUILT

Pursuant to the Plea Agreement, a sentence of imprisonment for a term of one (1) year was proposed for the accused, along with a fine in the amount of BAM 10,000 as an accessory punishment, which the accused is obliged to pay within fifteen days from the day the Judgment of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, handed down pursuant to this Plea Agreement, becomes final.

In accordance with the Plea Agreement, unlawful material gain in the amount of EUR 1595 and BAM 40 will be confiscated from the accused, as well as the instrumentalities used in the perpetration of the criminal offence.

The proposed sentence is consistent with the role and responsibility of the accused in the perpetration of the criminal offence.

The accused is charged with having attempted, for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain, to illegally transfer 14 illegal migrants, citizens of the Republic of Turkey and Egypt, including four minors, from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and EU, in a purpose-built area of a trailer, as those migrants did not meet the conditions for a legal crossing of the state border.

By signing the Plea Agreement, the accused waives his right to a trial and right to file an appeal against the Judgment that will be handed down against him by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of this Plea Agreement.

Having considered the Plea Agreement, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepted the Plea Agreement and imposed the aforementioned sentence on this accused person.
