MORTAL REMAINS OF AT LEAST ONE PERSON FOUND DURING EXHUMATION IN FOČA

Mortal remains of at least one person were found at this location, which will be transferred for further forensic processing and identification by way of the DNA analysis, in order to precisely determine the identity of the missing person.
According to the currently available information, these mortal remains could belong to a person of Bosniak ethnicity from the area of Foča, who disappeared in the fall of 1992.
The exhumation was conducted with the participation of a forensic pathologist, as well as representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA and ICMP, whereas police officers of the Foča Police Station of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior were securing the location and providing forensic and technical support.
After exhumation, the remains will be transferred to the Public Utility Company of ‘City Cemeteries’ of Visoko for further forensic processing.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
