At the aforementioned location, the remains of at least one person were found, and they will be transferred for further forensic processing and identification by way of the DNA analysis.

According to the preliminary information at our disposal, the remains most likely belong to a person of Serb ethnicity, who disappeared during the past war, but the exact identity will be determined by way of the DNA analysis of the sample.

The exhumation process was attended by employees of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA, International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a forensic pathologist, whereas police officers of the Ministry of the Interior of the Tuzla Canton Police Department in Banovići were securing the location and providing forensic and technical support.

The discovery of the location with the aforementioned remains is the result of the joint and coordinated work and exchange of information between the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA and the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
