At the meeting, Chief Prosecutor Kajganić presented the work and results of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office in cases related to criminal offenses linked to terrorism and extremism, as well as the work of the Counterterrorism Task Force, which is headed by the Chief Prosecutor, and  the activities that institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina implement with the aim of deradicalization and reduction of extremism and the process of resocialization in this area.

Given that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH achieves significant cooperation with partner institutions and agencies in the countries of the region, the EU and the world, in eliminating the threat of terrorism, the Chief Prosecutor informed the Special Rapporteur about the activities carried out with the aim of reducing the threat of extremism and terrorism.

Special Rapporteur Fionnuala Ní Aoláin also expressed her interest in joint activities of law enforcement agencies, legislative and executive institutions in preventing the threat of terrorism, and activities in the process of deradicalization and reintegration of returnees from war conflict zones.

Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina have a Counter Terrorism Strategy 2022-2026 that envisages various activities in this area, aiming to reduce the threat of terrorism and to fight against terrorism, violent extremism and hate speech.
