CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR AN EMPLOYEE OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE SUSPECTED OF CORRUPTIVE CRIMINAL OFFENSE
11.01.2023. 14:23Remand in custody was proposed for the reasons stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, points b) and c) of the CPC of BiH, i.e., due to risk that by remaining at large the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices.
The suspect is under investigation for a corrupt criminal offense - Accepting reward or other form of benefit for trading in influence. He is charged with having, in the past period, contacted one person and sought an illegal financial benefit for himself in the amount of Euro 10,000 in order to, in in his capacity as an official and employee of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, try to influence and obtain a more favorable status for the alleged suspect.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner police agencies, continues to conduct all necessary further investigative activities regarding the aforementioned suspect.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
