INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES IN MAGLAJ
30.12.2022. 08:55The accused is charged with having, during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a member of the HVO in the area of Maglaj, acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
He is accused of having, at the end of July 1992, together with other members of the HVO, come to the building in Maglaj where an Ethnic Serb family Avdalović, who was not engaged in the military or participated in an armed conflict, lived, in order to threaten them with weapons. They took the father and son of the Avdalović family out of the apartment, drove them in the direction of Tunjica, where they were shot dead, after which their lifeless bodies were found.
The accused is charged with having committed a criminal offense - War Crime against Civilians.
The prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 23 witnesses and submitting dozens of evidentiary materials.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
