ON CALL PROSECUTOR COORDINATED ACTIVITIES TO SEIZE LARGE QUANTITIES OF CIGARETTES
12.12.2022. 10:40 Acting within a 24-hour duty, the on-call prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH coordinated the activities of the officials of the Indirect Taxation Administration (ITA) of BiH, within which a quantity of 51,500 packs of cigarettes, undeclared and unmarked with excise stamps in accordance with the law, was seized. Its market value is estimated at about BAM 309,000.
Cigarettes were discovered as hidden cargo during the control of a cargo motor vehicle that entered the customs territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Rača border crossing, and the prosecutor on call gave instructions on further activities, questioning of the suspect, as well as seizure and confiscation of illegal cigarettes in accordance with the order of the Court BiH.
Also, on Sunday 11 December 2022 the on-call prosecutor coordinated activities with the BiH Border Police regarding the discovery and seizure of 50 cartons of smuggled cigarettes illegally imported into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Karakaj border crossing.The prosecutor on-call duty gave the necessary instructions to members of law enforcement agencies with the aim of discovering and documenting criminal offenses and their perpetrators for further processing in the case of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
