CUSTODY MOTION FOR THE CITIZEN OF CRROATIA SUSPECTED OF SMUGGLING 30 TURKISH CITIZENS
05.10.2022. 13:18The suspect Saša Marjanović, born in Rijeka in 1970, a citizen of the Republic of Croatia, was brought before the Assigned Prosecutor who, after questioning, submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a motion for remand in custody under Article 132, paragraph 1, point a) of the CPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. due to risk of flight of the suspect.
The aforementioned suspect is under investigation for having committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 of the BiH CC. He is suspected of having illegally smuggled citizens of the Republic of Turkey across the state border during the regular transport of goods in the cargo area of a cargo motor vehicle.Citizens of the Republic of Turkey were handed over to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further processing.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with partner institutions and agencies, undertakes almost daily activities related to the prosecution of criminal offenses of Smuggling in cities and areas throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
