PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND SIPA RECEIVED AND RECORDED 27 REPORTS FROM CITIZENS RELATED TO THE ELECTION PROCESS

 Acting on call duty for the day of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on-call prosecutors who were, together with SIPA police officers, on duty in regional centers in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla, received reports from citizens or institutions that related to violations of public peace and order at polling stations, allegations of election irregularities that related to possible criminal offenses as well as various events and incidents related to the election process.

 Reports from citizens most often related to allegations and irregularities regarding voting assistance to disabled persons and persons with difficulties, delivery of completed ballots, preventing access to observers, illegal behavior of citizens at polling stations, irregularities observed on the voter list, voting on behalf of other persons or with other people’s identification documents, physical attacks on the members of the polling boards, behavior of the president or members of the polling boards that is not in accordance with the regulations and other events that they considered inappropriate or illegal.

The reports related to polling stations in the area of Mostar, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad, Sarajevo, Živinica, Tuzla, Zvornik, Zenica, Tomislavgrad and other places.

 

After receiving the reports, activities were undertaken with the aim of verifying the reported allegations, official notes were made about the events, and the police officers on the ground were given instructions for further action in order to ensure a smooth election process.

 

The subsequent verification will establish the existence of elements of criminal offenses and determine the further action of the prosecutor’s office, police agencies or CEC of BiH.
