CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR AN EMPLOYEE OF DCPB BIH SUSPECTED OF CORRUPTION

21.09.2022. 15:27
The assigned prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has, following the questioning of the suspect, filed a motion for remand in custody of the suspect Fahrudin Gačanović, born in 1979, employed as a police officer of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies BiH, previously an employee of SIPA BiH.
  • CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR AN EMPLOYEE OF DCPB BIH SUSPECTED OF CORRUPTION

The suspect is under investigation and is suspected of corrupt activities and accepting gifts and other forms of benefits from several persons from criminal structures with whom he maintained active communication using the Sky application, as well as arranging for the delivery of various classified information from the operations of police agencies to criminal persons for fees in amounts of up to 1000 Euros.

In the above-mentioned way, the suspect obtained a large illegal financial gain for himself, caused damage to cases in the fight against serious forms of organized crime, and threatened the safety of judicial and police officers working on cases combating organized crime.

The investigation refers to the criminal offenses of Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefits from Article 217 and Breach of Secrecy of Proceedings from Article 237 of the CC BiH.

The measure of remand in custody was proposed due to the reasons stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, point b) and c) of the CPC BiH, i.e. due to risk that the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as commit a new criminal offense or complete the one initiated.

Concerning the second suspect who was deprived of liberty by the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in another case, the suspect will be interrogated in the afternoon, after which the prosecutorial decision on custody motion will be made.

*Note on the principle of presumption of innocence

This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
