THE DUTY PROSECUTOR OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE ORDERS INVESTIGATIVE ACTIONS WITHIN THE PROSECUTION OF THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING MIGRANTS
15.08.2022. 14:11While on duty, a prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH received information from a member of the Border Police of BiH that two citizens of BiH were discovered in the Zvornik area during a regular control in an attempt to smuggle 11 migrants of Afro-Asian descent.
The duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office instructed the police officers to carry out all necessary investigative actions to collect relevant data on the committed criminal offence. A report on the committed criminal offence of smuggling of persons will be submitted against the suspected citizens of BiH.
The found illegal migrants, according to the collected evidence and their statements, come from Burundi, Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon and Congo. They were handed over to officers of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further processing.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its partner police and security agencies, undertakes almost daily activities in the field of prosecuting criminal offences related to illegal migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
