ON ORDERS OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, MEMBERS OF THE RS MINISTRY OF INTERIOR DEPRIVED OF FREEDOM SEVERAL PERSONS SUSPECTED OF ORGANISED CRIME
09.08.2022. 11:09A prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, which handles cases codenamed “Transporter” and “Storage”, coordinates activities with police officers operating in the field.
The operation is targeted at four persons suspected that they, over a long period of time, as members of an organised criminal group, committed criminal offences of organised crime related to smuggling and illicit trafficking in large quantities of narcotic drugs, illegal trafficking in excise goods, as well as at persons who used their official positions to assist these suspects not to be discovered by the prosecuting authorities, by disclosing to them secret information and by abusing their position or authority.
These activities are the continuation of the determined fight against organised drug-crime structures operating in BiH and the countries of the region. Significant international cooperation was achieved within the framework of the operation, which also includes obtaining communications rendered through Internet applications. Among the suspects are also authorised officers who are suspected of providing support to members of organized criminal groups.
The suspects will be handed over to the prosecutor in charge within the legal deadline, who will interview the suspects and make a decision on further activities.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
