CUSTODY MOTION FOR THREE SUSPECTS IN THE OPERATION CODENAMED “NEVERA”
03.08.2022. 12:08The prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted a detailed motion for ordering the following suspects into custody:
- Edvin Imamović (1989),
- Emir Begić (1992), and
- Emir Subašić (1989), all born in Sarajevo, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The custody measure was requested due to the risk of the suspects’ flight, the risk that if they remain at large they could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offence or complete the one that has been started.
As part of investigative and operational activities, information and evidence was gathered that the suspects had been involved in the unlawful manufacturing and trafficking of narcotic drugs for a long time in the Sarajevo area and beyond, as well as the smuggling of narcotic drugs from neighboring countries for further resale in Bosnia and Herzegovina and further distribution to illegal drug markets of EU countries thus acquiring unlawful property gain.
During the searches, the following items were found and temporarily seized: hand grenades, pistols with associated frames and a certain amount of ammunition, a semi-automatic rifle with a folding stock, a large amount of narcotic drugs “marijuana” and “speed”, several mobile phones, digital scales, a large sum of money, as well as other items that can serve as evidence in further proceedings.
The persons who are under investigation within the mentioned case are suspected of the criminal offence of organised crime in connection with the criminal offence of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and money laundering defined in the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner police institutions, is continuing the investigation with the aim of fully elucidating and documenting the illegal activities of the suspects and the commission of the criminal offences in this case.
The custody motion was sent to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a hearing is expected to be scheduled based on the prosecution’s motion.
