INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST AFGHAN CITIZEN FOR SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS
24.05.2022. 09:50This accused person is charged with acting with the intention of obtaining unlawful material gain and in prior agreement with persons known to him from Pakistan and Afghanistan and helping and making possible for 26 migrants- citizens of Pakistan, Ghana, Zambia, Tunisia and India to illegally cross the state border from the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On 16 April this year, the accused smuggled the aforementioned illegal migrants in a rubber boat across the Drina River to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the agreed financial compensation, thus endangering the lives of the smuggled persons. When he crossed the border and entered the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the accused attempted to escape, but he was prevented from doing so by the officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed it.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
