MORTAL REMAINS OF FOUR MORE VICTIMS FOUND AT EXHUMATION IN MOSTAR
05.05.2022. 15:10In the continuation of the exhumation in the area of Medjine in Mostar, the remains of at least four more persons were found so far. The remains will be sent for further forensic processing and identification through DNA analysis in the premises of the city cemetery “Sutina” in Mostar.
The exhumation at this site will also continue in the coming days.
An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is present at the site. Under the supervision of the prosecutor in charge, he/she is coordinating the work and activities of authorized officers taking part in the exhumation process. In the field are members of a team of forensic doctors, representatives of the Missing Persons Institute of BiH, International Commission for Missing Persons ICMP BiH, required workers and machinery, as well as police officers of the of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of the Interior who are securing the site.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
