CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR TWO SUSPECTS IN TRANSPORTER AND STORAGE CASES
06.04.2022. 15:32A Motion to order custody has been proposed for the following suspects:
- Jelenko Knežević, born in 1971 in the municipality of Kneževo, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and
- Mirjana Vujović, born in 1979 in the municipality of Bileća, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The measure of custody has been proposed for reasons as stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, items a), b) and c) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, due to the risk of flight and the danger that, if at large, the suspects may hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, or repeat or complete the criminal offense.
The aforementioned suspects are under investigation due to the existence of grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of Organized Crime, referred to in Article 250 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, referred to in Article 195 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The suspects are under investigation and they are charged with organized international smuggling of large quantities of "skunk” marijuana and cocaine narcotic drugs, which drugs were smuggled into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be further smuggled to the countries of the European Union.
Intensive investigation in this case continues.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
